What does 2 Chronicles 28:24 mean?

Ahaz gathered up the things from God’s temple and smashed them. He shut the doors of the Lord’s temple and set up altars for himself in every corner of Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 28:24 - Modern Text Bible

(Ahaz goes so far as to destroy the temple’s sacred objects and close it down, replacing worship of God with his own altars everywhere. It’s a total rejection of God.)
