What does 2 Chronicles 31:1 mean?

When all this was over, everyone who had come from Israel went out to the towns of Judah and smashed the stone pillars, cut down the sacred poles, and tore down the shrines and altars for other gods all over Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh.
