What does Proverbs 6:28 mean?
Can you walk on fire and not burn your feet? Proverbs 6:28 - Modern Text Bible
(Just like with fire, you can’t mess with dangerous situations and expect to come out unharmed.)
Walking on hot coals and expecting not to get burned is impossible. This verse claims that when you step into risky situations—especially those involving temptation—you’re going to get hurt. The Hebrew word raglayim (feet) is used, making the warning concrete: your actions have physical, unavoidable consequences.
This challenges the belief that you can dabble in dangerous situations and walk away untouched. It’s a blunt reminder that some risks don’t offer second chances.
If you’ve ever thought you could manage a dangerous choice or keep things “just under control,” this verse is a warning. Some actions always leave a mark, and sometimes the only safe move is not to take the first step.
